Terraform changes move fast, and security checks often come too late: after the apply, in a cloud audit, or when someone opens an old plan file. Code review helps, but it only shows what was written. What actually changes in your infrastructure, and what sensitive values end up in the plan, only become visible once Terraform resolves the plan.

In this session, we’ll set up an enforceable policy gate on both your Terraform plan and configuration, inside the CI/CD pipeline you already run. Steampunk Spotter validates Terraform code against the current definitions of official providers. Before changes are applied, it enforces built-in checks and your own custom policies on the plan, and blocks changes that break them. You’ll see it catch secrets in cleartext, enforce an internal rule as a custom policy, and send every result to one place your security team can audit.

When every team checks Terraform changes in its own way, nobody has a clear view of what’s allowed into production. A shared set of policies in every pipeline gives platform leads that view and gives security teams a record of what was checked, when, and with what result.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Why code review alone can’t govern Terraform
  • How to validate Terraform code at merge request against official provider definitions
  • How to enforce custom policies and catch secrets before apply
  • How to give security teams one place to see results and an audit trail

⚡ Bonus for Attendees: Free Terraform Script Assessment ⚡

Everyone who joins live can book a free Terraform script assessment. We’ll run Steampunk Spotter against a Terraform repository of your choice and walk you through what it finds, from provider definition errors to secrets in your plans.

Can’t make it live? Register anyway, and we’ll send you the on-demand recording after the session.
